Claddagh Fund Celebrity Golf Tournament

Scalawags Heritage Apparel had the great pleasure of being a sponsor for The Claddagh Fund Celebrity Golf Tournament in Cape Cod.  The Claddagh Fund is the official charity of the Dropkick Murphys.  Their charity helps organizations and non-profits that are truly on the front lines assisting people.  From veterans to children, the charity is able to allocate resources without all the bureaucratic BS and red tape that often exists.

We set up shop on the 18th hole of the beautiful Golf Club of Cape Cod.  We couldn't have asked for a better location to promote the brand and interact with all the great participants.  Everyone was very receptive of the brand and provided a lot of great feedback.  Watching everyone try on the caps and acknowledging both the quality of the material and that they were made in America was very rewarding.

Under a tent on the 18th hole we provided gray and brown herringbone caps with burlap cargo bags.

Here at Scalawags everyone is on equal footing (we're never going high-hat) so it was great to see that some of the  "celebrity" golfers were so down to earth and supportive.  There is no greater example then Bobby Orr.  Arguably the greatest hockey player of all time and he couldn't have been more approachable and friendly.  Here is just a glimpse of the good people we had the pleasure of talking to:

The hosts of the tournament: Boston bruins legend Bobby Orr and Dropkick Murphys Ken Casey

Former Boston Bruin enforcer Lyndon Byers and friends

Chris Collins of NECN and friends

James Lynch the rhythm guitar player for the Dropkick Murphys and friends.

Our good friend Danny Bhoy O'Connor

Dr. Hook from Slap Shot

After the golf ended everyone was treated to a dinner, DKM acoustic set, and a charity auction.  The setlist included Jimmy Collins Wake, Peg O' My Heart, Rose Tattoo, Shipping Up to Boston, and The Fields of Athenry w/ a guest appearance by Ronan Tynan.

The live auction was a huge hit with some bids getting as high as $35,000.  Some Boston charities will be very grateful.  Overall, it was an honor to be included in such a wonderful event.  We would like to thank everyone at the Claddagh Fund and the many volunteers who made the day possible.  We're looking forward to next year!
