John Fitzgerald or 'Honey Fitz' was a charismatic ward boss from Boston's north end & the beloved grandfather of JFK. He would rise to become mayor of Boston & end the Brahman dominance over city politics. When the Brahman elite would question Boston's new immigrant identity he would say, "its only a difference of a few ships." He was one of the leaders of the Royal Rooters, a passionate baseball fan club that would evolve into the modern Red Sox nation. He loved the pageantry of baseball & often went high-hat throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Check out all this history at McGreevys 3rd Base Saloon.
